We installed a RSS feed on the Abbots Langley Parish Council website this week. Parish Clerk Tim Perkins maintains it using FeedForAll. The RSS is updated when new information is added to the website or there are any content changes.

RSS feeds are a popular way of staying up to date with changes to websites and having updated information delivered to you, rather than you having to search for it. They are ideal for an organisation such as a Parish Council which frequently updates it's website with important information.

Popular web browsers such as Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox have built in RSS readers. Other standalone programs such as FeedDemon and Google Reader are also available.

Hatfield based Chris Manfredi cpmwebdesign.co.uk made the new Flash banner system for my home page. The pictures load via an XML (Extensible Markup Language) file. The photos include Bullsland Farm, Turneys Orchard and some I took on Chorleywood Common and the Chorleywood House Estate.

I’m indebted to Patrick Gordon of Rockmill Webspinners for advice about RSI prevention.

Following his advice, I bought a D-ring wrist brace from Benefits Now Shop in May. For mouse work, I've have been wearing it most of the time as a safeguard against RSI.

So thanks Patrick. Of course there are other things you can do such as changing the hand you use the mouse with or using a tablet and pen instead of a mouse.
